CRAPPYCOMPANIES.COM Presents: Ever-Ready Glass (3/15/06)
I am Locksmith Charley. My business address is 2308 E. Indian School Rd. Phoenix.
I had an unfortunate occurrence of a broken window in my recently acquired HERTZ rental shuttle bus.
The staff members of Ever-Ready Glass, 2525 E Indian School Rd Phoenix, AZ 85016 - 6738 answered their phone [(602) 235-6002] in a timely manner and made verbal representations to me that they could take care of all of my glass problems related to the former Hertz shuttle bus that I had purchased.
First trip - "OK, lets measure a similar window and order up a replacement.
A few days later - "We have your glass in stock... Come and have it put in!" After about an hour of travel time, my technician is told by ever-STUPID's staff: "Oh, we don't REALLY have your glass in stock...." (At least 1 hour of unnecessary travel/down time)
A week later or so I get another phone call... "We have your glass in stock..." so I take a day out of my life to appear at their offices. Their technician removes all of the broken glass. The Tech doesn't give a shit about the adhesive residue left behind from the tape he removed when removing the broken glass. They removed all of the broken glass and brought out a replacement glass that was HELLO at least an inch short in all dimensions... At that point they decided "Well, we can give you a plastic window until we can have a PROPER replacement procured....... (Another 1 hour of unnecessary travel/down time)
At some time later, when it fit into my schedule to leave my vehicle with them for the better part of a day their company is like "FUCK YOU!" You don't have an appointment...
At some time in the future I managed to take the BUS to Ever-Ready Glass at a time that was apparently convenient for them. I was told by a supposedly competent person in their glazing department that the replacement of the broken window and the sealing of all of the "skylight" windows would be done and they would call me when the job was completed.
Sometime later I did receive the call that the job was completed and I caused the bus to be picked up.
The TV and Radio Stations have until recently been commenting on the valley's lack of rainfall for some 130+ days....
Last weekend it rained. When I went into the BUS I discovered water on the countertop immediately adjacent to the computer and monitor.
I went into the offices of Ever-Ready Glass on 24th St. and Indian School, where the work had been performed, and DEMANDED to speak to either the GLAZING manager or the owner of the company.
"Big Dave" responded "I guess that's me" and then accompanied me out to the bus. I showed "Big Dave" the several places where it showed that there was water trails through the dust on the inside of the windows that I had paid for to be sealed.
"Big Dave" was concerned that I not have a lot of down-time while having the window work re-done. I told "Big Dave" that I had declared Tuesday a vehicle maintenance day and discussed with him "If my mechanics have the front end off the ground to work on suspension stuff, can your guys still work on the windows? (outside the back of my shop) and he responded affirmatively and told me he would set it up. I told him that he should call after 10AM because that is when we typically open the shop.
"Big Dave" SHOOK HANDS with me and told me that they would take care of it.
I was awakened about 8:30AM by "Dale" who gave me all kinds of run-around and bullshit about how it would be impossible for him to send someone to my shop and his idea of standing behind his company's work was to tell me that he was sending me a refund check. Apparently he doesn't want to have me as a repeat customer and he apparently doesn't care a whit what people say about his company. Dale should be worried about getting SUED for consequential damages for wasting a great deal of my company's time and fuel making repeated trips to his business behind their stupidity
I believe that it is reprehensible that a company's owner(s) would renege on commitments made by their (supposedly responsible) department managers
